Police Pursuit in Anchorage Ends in Multi-Vehicle Crash and Charges

A 31-year-old Anchorage man is facing a series of charges following a high-speed police pursuit on Friday evening that ended in a crash in the Muldoon area and left one passenger seriously injured.

According to Alaska State Troopers (AST), Darren David was first observed driving dangerously on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway. Troopers say he was swerving between lanes and appeared impaired. After officers attempted to pull him over near the CARRS in Palmer, David fled, prompting a pursuit involving both Alaska State Troopers and Palmer Police.

Dangerous Pursuit

In an attempt to stop the vehicle, officers deployed spike strips, which successfully deflated most of the car’s tires. Despite this, David continued to flee, reportedly striking multiple vehicles during the chase. The pursuit ultimately came to an end in the Muldoon area of Anchorage when the vehicle crashed.

One passenger in the vehicle sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash, according to troopers. No additional information was provided about the condition of other individuals or the extent of damage to the vehicles involved.

David was arrested at the scene and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility. He has been remanded on multiple charges, including failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, assault, criminal mischief, driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. Authorities confirmed that he is currently being held without bail.
