Trump Claims Iran’s Nukes Were ‘Obliterated,’ but Leaked Report Raises Doubts

WASHINGTON – Former President Donald Trump is standing by his claim that U.S. military strikes destroyed Iran’s nuclear program, but a leaked intelligence report is telling a much less certain story.

In a recent interview on Fox News, Trump called the operation “one of the most skilled and imperative in the last 40 years.” He said U.S. forces carried out “textbook” strikes on three nuclear sites, which he claimed were now “obliterated.” He described the mission as a peacekeeping effort meant to prevent future attacks. “You can go to bed peacefully tonight,” Trump told viewers. “They won’t be launching missiles at us.”

His statements drew praise from supporters, who saw the operation as a strong message to Iran and its allies. But Iranian officials quickly pushed back, calling the claims “reckless lies.”

A different picture emerged when a classified report from the Defense Intelligence Agency was leaked to the media. According to the assessment, the damage to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure was likely much more limited. Analysts estimated the strikes may have delayed Iran’s nuclear program by only a few months, not stopped it. The report described its conclusions as “low confidence,” meaning that there was still uncertainty about the results.

At the White House, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that an investigation is underway to find out who leaked the sensitive information. “Only a small group of officials had access,” she said. “Someone shared something they should not have, and they will be found.”

The leak has raised concerns among lawmakers and security experts. Some say overstating the success of the strikes could create new risks, including retaliation from Iran or further tension in the region. Others argue that showing U.S. strength was necessary to deter future threats.

For now, both the true impact of the operation and the identity of the person who leaked the report remain unclear. What is certain is that the conflicting accounts have added to the uncertainty in an already volatile situation. As more information comes to light, the debate over what happened and who is telling the truth will likely continue.
