Three Teenagers Arrested After Fatal Stabbing of 19-Year-Old in Bury Car Park

Three 19-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing in a public car park in Bury, Greater Manchester. The arrests come after a 19-year-old male victim was attacked on Friday evening and later died from multiple stab wounds.

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the most recent arrest occurred at Manchester Airport around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The other two suspects were taken into custody on Saturday night in Bury and Bolton, respectively. All three remain in police custody for questioning as detectives continue their investigation.

The stabbing took place just before 9 p.m. on Friday in a car park located on Market Street, a central area in Bury. Emergency services responded quickly to reports of an assault, but despite efforts to save the victim, he was later pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries.

Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team is leading the investigation. Authorities have emphasized that, while three arrests have been made, the inquiry remains ongoing and active.

Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton described the incident as “a violent and tragic” event that unfolded in front of numerous witnesses. “Even though we have three people in custody, this is still a live investigation and that will continue today and into next week,” he stated. “This incident will have shocked the community and distressed anyone who witnessed it, but we believe this was a targeted attack with no wider threat to the public.”

Charlton also confirmed that officers would maintain a visible presence in the area in the coming days as the investigation progresses. He urged anyone who was in the vicinity at the time of the stabbing, or who may have relevant information, to come forward. “We also have specialist officers supporting the family at this difficult time,” he added.

The police are asking anyone with information to contact them and reference log number 3354-01/08/25. They are particularly interested in speaking to individuals who may have seen the events leading up to or following the stabbing or who may possess relevant video footage.

Local residents have expressed concern over rising levels of violent crime in parts of Greater Manchester, with some calling for stronger police presence in town centers during weekend evenings. While authorities stress that this particular incident appears to have been targeted, the high-profile nature of the killing has drawn renewed attention to youth-related violence and its impact on communities.

As of Sunday evening, the identity of the victim had not yet been released by authorities. Post-mortem examination results and further updates are expected in the coming days.
