Texas SNAP Recipients Set to Receive Benefits August 4–10

Download IPFS

Millions of low-income families in Texas are set to receive their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits between August 4 and August 10, 2025. The SNAP program remains one of the United States’ most critical federal assistance efforts, aimed at helping households access nutritious food through an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) system.

In Texas, these benefits are distributed via the Lone Star Card, a debit-style card that can be used at authorized grocery stores and supermarkets. SNAP ensures that recipients can purchase food that meets basic nutritional needs while excluding non-essential or unhealthy items.

Texas staggers SNAP payments across the month based on each household’s Eligibility Determination Group (EDG) number. From August 1 through August 28, beneficiaries receive payments depending on the last two digits of their EDG.

From August 4 to August 10, the following recipients will receive their food stamp payments:

  • EDG ending in 06 to 10 – August 4
  • EDG ending in 11 to 13 – August 5
  • EDG ending in 14 to 17 – August 6
  • EDG ending in 18 to 20 – August 7
  • EDG ending in 21 to 24 – August 8
  • EDG ending in 25 to 27 – August 9
  • EDG ending in 28 to 31 – August 10

While SNAP is vital for purchasing healthy groceries, the program places clear restrictions on ineligible items. Recipients cannot use their Lone Star Cards to purchase:

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Tobacco products
  • Non-food goods (such as cleaning supplies or paper products)
  • Hot or prepared foods from unapproved vendors or restaurants

These limitations are designed to ensure that the program remains focused on nutrition and does not subsidize unhealthy or luxury purchases.

The SNAP program in Texas serves over 3 million residents, providing critical support to working families, seniors, and individuals facing financial hardship. It forms part of a broader network of government assistance that includes Medicaid and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), all aimed at stabilizing communities and reducing food insecurity.

As the cost of living continues to challenge many households across the U.S., the timely distribution of SNAP benefits remains essential. For Texas families, knowing their payment dates allows for better budgeting and food planning.

Recipients can monitor their SNAP balance using the YourTexasBenefits.com website or by calling the Lone Star Card help line. Staying informed about benefit schedules and restrictions helps families make the most of their available support.
