Millions of low-income families in Texas are set to receive their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits between August 4 and August 10, 2025. While SNAP is vital for purchasing healthy groceries, the program places clear restrictions on ineligible items. Recipients cannot use their Lone Star Cards to purchase:

• Alcoholic beverages
  
• Tobacco products
  
• Non-food goods (such as cleaning supplies or paper products)
  
• Hot or prepared foods from unapproved vendors or restaurants
  

These limitations are designed to ensure that the program remains focused on nutrition and does not subsidize unhealthy or luxury purchases.
