A man accused of leading officers on a high-speed chase that ended in chaos outside an Everett casino is expected to appear in court Monday. The incident, which stretched across multiple Massachusetts communities, culminated in a violent confrontation involving police, a stolen trash truck, and an officer-involved shooting.

Admilson Vizcaino, 33, is set to be arraigned at Malden District Court, WHDH reported.  He faces a lengthy list of charges, including several counts of armed carjacking and armed assault with intent to rob.

Authorities say Vizcaino’s alleged rampage began in Medford, a city just northwest of Boston, where he reportedly stole a sports utility vehicle (SUV). From there, police tracked him to Billerica, where he was captured on surveillance footage inside a 7-Eleven convenience store. According to investigators, he is suspected of shoplifting from the store before fleeing.

The chase quickly escalated as law enforcement attempted to stop Vizcaino while he drove through several communities. The pursuit ultimately led to the Encore Boston Harbor casino in Everett, where police say Vizcaino crashed the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Officers reported that Vizcaino was armed with a knife during the encounter. They used stun guns in an effort to subdue him. Despite these attempts, Vizcaino managed to climb into a parked trash truck near the casino.

An Everett police officer opened fire during the confrontation. Investigators confirmed that Vizcaino was shot but still managed to drive off in the garbage truck, heading toward the Alford Street Bridge. He eventually crashed the vehicle and was taken into custody at the scene.

Emergency responders transported Vizcaino to the hospital in critical condition. There have been no further updates on his current medical status.

The officer who discharged his weapon has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard protocol while the incident remains under investigation.

Vizcaino’s charges stem from multiple alleged criminal acts committed within a short time frame, including vehicle theft, suspected shoplifting, and a violent clash with police. His court appearance on Monday is expected to shed more light on the full extent of his charges.

No other injuries have been reported, and authorities have not indicated whether anyone else was involved in the incident.

The investigation remains active, and officials have not released further details regarding the motive behind Vizcaino’s actions.
