Suspect Arrested After High-Speed Chase Near Protected Victim’s Location

A man already facing legal trouble was arrested in Mishawaka, Indiana, following a reckless police pursuit that ended dangerously close to a protected individual named in his ongoing cases.

On July 24, officers with the Mishawaka Police Department spotted a white Dodge Charger speeding along North Hickory Road near West Edison. According to a probable cause affidavit, the vehicle was traveling well above the posted speed limit, prompting officers to initiate a traffic stop near Manchester Drive and Rexford Drive.

The driver, later identified as Carey Cornelius Kimble III, refused to stop and accelerated instead. In an attempt to evade police, Kimble lost control of the vehicle, causing it to fishtail. He then hit a speed bump and a curb, veered off the road, and eventually corrected himself before continuing south on Manchester Drive. From there, he made a turn onto Corby Boulevard, but lost control again, overcorrecting and striking a garbage can in the process.

The pursuit didn’t end there. Kimble abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot through a nearby apartment complex. Officers chased him down and successfully detained him in the 900 block of Patty Lane. Police noted that Kimble was apprehended just one block from the protected party named in his previous legal case, a potential no-contact order violation.

According to court documents, Kimble now faces two charges stemming from this incident. The first is a Level 6 felony for resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, while the second is a misdemeanor charge for knowingly or intentionally fleeing law enforcement on foot.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether additional charges will be brought related to Kimble’s arrest for being near the protected individual. However, given his legal history and the seriousness of the violation, the incident raises further concern about enforcing protective orders and preventing re-offense.

Kimble’s record already includes two pending cases involving the same victim. Although the details of those cases have not been publicly released, court filings confirm that a no-contact order is in place. Law enforcement emphasized the troubling fact that this latest arrest occurred within close distance to that individual.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on August 4. It remains to be seen whether prosecutors will seek to amend or expand charges based on the potential violation of the no-contact directive.

The Mishawaka Police Department has not provided additional comments on the arrest at this time, and Kimble or his legal representation have not made a statement. He is currently being held pending his court date, and further developments in his case will be monitored closely.
