Stevie Wonder Urges World Leaders to Get Their Act Together

Legendary musician Stevie Wonder has never been shy about speaking his mind, and this week he delivered a powerful message aimed directly at the world’s most influential people. During a concert in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on Monday, the 74-year-old star called on leaders everywhere to use their positions to create peace instead of spreading division.

“I believe we need the leaders of the world to take advantage of what they’ve been given to do to bring peace to all the world,” Wonder told the audience. He didn’t hold back, adding bluntly, “I don’t care who you are, you could be a president or a prime minister, it doesn’t matter. Get your s*** together!”

The “Isn’t She Lovely” singer has made it clear over the years that he feels strongly about social and political issues, even if he no longer follows politics closely. Back in January, when asked about Donald Trump’s return to the White House, Wonder said he stopped paying attention because “it’s too much bulls***,” and he prefers to follow what he called “the truth.”

In August 2024, he appeared at the Democratic National Convention, where he passionately urged Americans to vote. He described that election as a defining moment, telling the crowd that it was time to choose courage over complacency and work to “win the broken hearts, win the disenchanted, win the angry spirits.”

Later, during his tour in November 2024, Wonder spoke again about the importance of unity in America. He warned that there would always be forces trying to take away the idea of democracy and said people had to come together to protect it.

Unlike many celebrities who worry about backlash for speaking up, Wonder said he has no such fears. He told fans that he only answers to God and has learned to trust his judgment. “God is my manager, so I’ve been given permission to manage myself,” he explained. “I listen to people I trust, but ultimately, I’m going to make my own decisions.”

His words in Birmingham were a reminder that even after decades in the spotlight, Stevie Wonder is still using his voice to push for something bigger than fame. He wants a world that chooses peace over division.
