SEC Launches Nationwide Crypto Roundtable Tour to Engage Industry Stakeholders

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is launching a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening its engagement with the digital asset industry. Starting this August, SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce will lead a 10-city tour to host roundtable discussions as part of the agency’s Crypto Task Force outreach campaign. The goal is to collect input from developers, investors, and early-stage crypto startups to help inform the SEC’s evolving approach to digital asset regulation.

Announced on Friday, the roundtable series will run through December and is designed to foster open dialogue on emerging technologies and regulatory needs in the crypto space. Commissioner Peirce emphasized the importance of inclusivity and transparency, stating, “The Crypto Task Force is acutely aware that any regulatory framework will have far-reaching effects, and we want to ensure that our outreach is as comprehensive as possible.”

The SEC’s focus will be on engaging with startups that are less than two years old and have ten or fewer employees, recognizing that these early-stage firms often face unique regulatory challenges. Previous SEC-hosted roundtables have included major players such as a16z Crypto, a subsidiary of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, and BlackRock, the multinational investment management corporation. Topics have ranged from tokenization and crypto custody to decentralized finance (DeFi), reflecting the agency’s broad interest in how these technologies interact with existing financial systems.

The initiative underscores the SEC’s ongoing efforts to develop informed and balanced policies amid rapid advancements in blockchain and cryptocurrency. As regulatory clarity becomes increasingly important for market participants, this roadshow marks a deliberate step toward collaborative oversight of the digital economy.
