An Oklahoma man has been charged after admitting to shooting his girlfriend’s husband in what he claims was an act of self-defense, telling police he was afraid he couldn’t physically overpower the man.

Micah Hill, 21, turned himself in to law enforcement following the shooting that took place outside the Biomat USA Plasma Center in Edmond on Tuesday afternoon. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond and faces charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the incident unfolded while Hill was waiting in his girlfriend’s car. She had gone inside the plasma donation facility, leaving Hill in the vehicle. Her husband then approached the car, prompting a confrontation that quickly escalated.

Hill told police that he recognized the man, recalling a prior altercation where the husband allegedly spat in his face and issued threats. This time, Hill said he panicked. He told investigators he retrieved a handgun from his girlfriend’s purse, loaded it, and stepped out of the vehicle.

The affidavit states the husband walked around the car and confronted Hill, asking if he was harming his children. Hill responded “no,” but claims the man suddenly lunged at him.

“I couldn’t do anything unless I shot him,” Hill allegedly told investigators, adding that he was scared and didn’t think he could “outfight” the man. He admitted the husband was not visibly armed during the incident.

Hill fired two shots, striking the victim. Despite his injuries, the wounded man managed to walk into the plasma center lobby, calling out for help.

“We have a man outside in our lobby who’s on the ground. He’s got blood on him. We don’t really know. We just heard a commotion and walked out there,” one 911 caller reported, as documented in emergency call transcripts.

Another caller described the chaos that followed: “A gentleman walked in and was yelling, ‘Help! Help! I need help. He shot me.'”

First responders arrived quickly, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The Edmond Police Department stated that the weapon used in the shooting belonged to Hill’s girlfriend. Officers recovered the firearm at the scene. Hill fully cooperated with authorities and surrendered without incident.

The Biomat USA Plasma Center, part of the global health company Grifols, confirmed it is assisting with the investigation. A spokesperson praised the swift actions of staff members who aided the victim and immediately contacted emergency services.

This case remains under active investigation as police gather witness statements and forensic evidence. Hill has not yet entered a plea.

While Oklahoma law allows for the use of deadly force in situations of self-defense under certain conditions, the details surrounding this case, particularly the fact that the victim was unarmed, will likely be key factors as the legal process unfolds.
