Major Networks Silent on Violent Cincinnati Assault as Public Outcry Grows

A brutal street altercation in Cincinnati that left a woman unconscious and multiple people injured has gone largely unreported by the three major broadcast networks, according to a recent review by the Media Research Council’s (MRC) Newsbusters. The incident, which took place early Saturday morning, was widely shared online through graphic video footage showing a group of individuals kicking and stomping on a man, followed by a woman identified only as Holly being knocked unconscious when she attempted to intervene.

Newsbusters found that ABC, CBS, and NBC did not cover the story on their primary morning or evening news shows specifically, Good Morning America, World News Tonight, CBS News Mornings, Evening News, Today, and Nightly News through Wednesday, July 30. A Fox News Digital follow-up confirmed that the trend continued into Thursday.

While both ABC and NBC published articles about the assault on their websites, and NBC addressed it on their early morning show and streaming service, the omission from the networks’ most-watched national broadcasts has prompted criticism. Five individuals have since been charged in connection with the violent melee.

The footage shows a man in a polo shirt being severely beaten by multiple attackers. The woman, Holly, was visibly injured, with photographs showing her bloodied and bruised. Despite the severity of the incident and public concern, some commentators argue that media silence is being driven by politically sensitive racial dynamics.

Newsbusters pointed out that the major networks’ reluctance to report the story might stem from the apparent racial identities of those involved, with the attackers reportedly Black and the victims White. “Given the victims appeared to be White and the mob Black, ABC, CBS, and NBC have steered clear,” the outlet wrote.

Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) strongly criticized the city’s leadership in an interview on Fox & Friends, calling the attack.
