New court documents have unveiled shocking details surrounding the death of Matthew Perry, the beloved Friends actor. Lisa Plasencia, a Los Angeles-based physician assistant, faces federal charges for allegedly supplying Perry with approximately $4,500 worth of ketamine shortly before his death in October 2023. But more damning information from the prosecutors revealed that Plasencia apparently mocked Perry in text messages just days before he passed away, raising serious concerns about her conduct and the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.

Court documents allege that she supplied large amounts of the drug to him outside legal medical channels. Additionally, Plasencia is said to have provided ketamine to other individuals in Hollywood and used falsified patient records to conceal her activities. She faces serious charges, including “distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death.” If convicted, Plasencia could face significant prison time.

Beyond the drug charges, prosecutors uncovered disturbing text messages in which she appeared to mock Perry. Just days before his death, she texted, “I wonder how much this moron will pay,” and added, “He can’t even tell he’s high.” These messages reveal a blatant disregard for Perry’s safety and well-being.

Perry was discovered unresponsive in his home last year. An official investigation confirmed that his death was caused by the “acute effects of ketamine,” a powerful drug sometimes used in medical treatments for pain or depression but potentially deadly when misused. Although Perry had previously received ketamine treatments as part of therapy for mental health issues, the level of ketamine in his system was far beyond what would be expected from legitimate medical use, prompting authorities to investigate the source of the drug.

Matthew Perry had been open about his long battle with addiction. In his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, he candidly described his struggles with alcohol and prescription drugs, and the challenges of staying sober. Perry also worked to support others facing addiction by establishing a sober living house for men in recovery. His unexpected death at age 54 shocked many who believed he was finally overcoming his demons.

The ongoing case against Plasencia has reignited debate about the administration of ketamine and the need for strict oversight of such treatments, especially for those with addiction histories. Perry’s death highlights the dangers posed by illegal drug distribution and the exploitation of vulnerable patients.

As the investigation continues, Perry’s fans and the public remain deeply affected by the loss of a talented actor and advocate for recovery.
