Ghislaine Maxwell Seen Jogging in Prison as DOJ Memo Reignites Epstein Death Debate

As fresh footage shows Ghislaine Maxwell jogging behind bars, new government claims about Jeffrey Epstein’s death are reigniting long-standing suspicions and public outrage.

Convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell, now serving a 20-year sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida, has been spotted jogging in the prison yard, maintaining a fitness routine while her former associate’s name resurfaces in headlines. The footage comes amid the release of a new memo from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), which has concluded its lengthy review of Epstein’s 2019 jail death and stood by the original ruling of suicide.

Epstein, a wealthy financier with powerful connections, was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges when he was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell. The DOJ and the FBI insist there is no foul play and no “incriminating client list” exists, despite long-running public speculation. This stance, however, has only deepened skepticism.

Maxwell herself has cast doubt on the official narrative. In a 2023 interview from prison with The Guardian, she suggested Epstein’s death may have been a setup. Her claim aligns with Epstein’s brother, Mark, who hired independent forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden. Baden publicly stated the injuries found on Epstein’s neck were more consistent with strangulation than hanging, unusual, he said, in five decades of experience with suicide cases.

Public Doubts

Randolph Rice, a Maryland-based attorney and legal analyst, told Fox News Digital, “What better way to argue that the system is fixed than to say that your co-defendant was murdered by the system that’s trying to put her in jail?”

Epstein’s legal saga dates back to 2008, when he received a widely criticized 13-month plea deal in Florida after being charged with soliciting a minor. Public outcry over the leniency of that sentence intensified in 2019 after a new federal investigation led to his arrest on additional sex trafficking charges involving dozens of underage girls.

Following his death, Maxwell was arrested in July 2020 and charged with procuring girls for Epstein. She was later convicted and continues to appeal her sentence. Legal experts say the DOJ may withhold additional case evidence to avoid prejudicing her ongoing appeal, though the latest memo does not mention her legal status.

In January 2024, thousands of documents from a civil suit filed by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre were unsealed, revealing associations between Epstein and various high-profile individuals. Most of those named were not accused of any criminal wrongdoing. Giuffre, whose testimony was key in revealing Epstein’s crimes, died by suicide earlier this year in Australia.

In February, newly appointed Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed that Epstein-related files were under review. The DOJ’s final memo, released last week, stated that more than 10,000 images and videos contained illegal content involving minors, which could not legally be made public. Surveillance footage was also shared to support the suicide ruling, although a gap in video coverage due to a technical failure has only stirred further mistrust.
