Diddy Sentencing Set for Oct. 3 After Acquittal

Sean “Diddy” Combs is awaiting sentencing after a federal jury recently returned a mixed verdict in his widely followed criminal trial. The music mogul, who once stood at the top of the hip-hop industry, now faces the possibility of serious prison time..On Tuesday, both the prosecution and defense agreed to retain the originally scheduled sentencing date of October 3, 2025.

. The decision came days after a Manhattan jury acquitted Combs of the most serious charges—racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. However, he was convicted on two lesser counts of transporting individuals for illegal sexual activity. Each conviction carries a possible sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison, though actual sentencing will depend on federal guidelines and judicial discretion.

Judge Arun Subramanian, who is overseeing the case, had initially scheduled the sentencing for October 3, shortly after the jury delivered its mixed verdict. Combs’ legal team initially sought to move the sentencing date forward but withdrew the request following discussions with federal prosecutors. In a letter to the court, defense attorney Marc Agnifilo confirmed that both sides agreed to proceed with the original timeline.

Under the proposed schedule, probation officials will submit a pre-sentencing investigation report by August 29. Defense attorneys will file their objections by September 5, followed by a response from prosecutors on September 12. Final reports and sentencing memoranda from both parties will be submitted later in September.

While the acquittal on the most severe charges was a partial legal win for Combs, the convictions still represent a serious threat to his freedom. Combs remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he has been held since his arrest in September of last year.

. Judge Arun Subramanian denied Combs’ bail request, citing public safety concerns and referencing troubling behavior presented during trial testimony and video evidence. The judge referenced video evidence and trial testimony that painted a troubling picture of Combs’ past, including a violent incident involving former partner Casandra Ventura in 2016.

Court filings from Cassie Ventura’s attorney and other witnesses expressed concerns that Combs could pose a threat of retaliation if released before sentencing. One witness, Deonte Nash, a former stylist for both Combs and Ventura, urged the court to prioritize the safety of victims, describing Combs as a man with a “well-documented history of violent, coercive and retaliatory behavior.”

With the October 3 sentencing now set, attention turns to how Judge Subramanian will consider the trial evidence, witness statements, and impact of the convictions. For Combs, once known for his larger-than-life presence in music and business, the next chapter will unfold in a federal courtroom.
