LOS ANGELES, Robin Kaye, a respected music supervisor known for her work on American Idol, and her husband, Thomas Deluca, were both discovered dead in their Encino home on Monday afternoon, authorities confirmed.

Police officers carried out a welfare check after family members grew concerned when they were unable to contact the couple. Inside the property, officers located the bodies of Mr Deluca and Ms Kaye, both aged 70, each with fatal gunshot wounds.

A spokesperson for American Idol described Ms Kaye as a “cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009,” adding that she was “truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her.” The statement continued: “Robin will remain in our hearts forever, and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”

According to public records, the couple owned their Encino residence, situated in a neighbourhood often praised for its relative safety compared to other parts of Los Angeles. However, this tragic incident underscores the reality that violent crime remains a persistent issue, even in affluent areas.

Los Angeles police announced on Tuesday afternoon that 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian had been arrested on suspicion of the double murder. Investigators allege that Boodarian was burglarising the home on 10 July when the couple returned unexpectedly. He is accused of shooting both victims before fleeing on foot.

Earlier that day, police had received a report of a possible burglary at the same address but noted in a press release that there were “no signs of forced entry or trouble” during the initial response.

Ms Kaye was a fixture in American television music production. Alongside her work on American Idol, she contributed to a range of entertainment programmes including The Singing Bee, Hollywood Game Night, Lip Sync Battle, and several Miss USA and Miss Universe broadcasts.

Mr Deluca, although less publicly recognised, was known among colleagues as a supportive presence behind the scenes. In a recent interview with Variety, a former production partner of Kaye’s said: “Robin had an extraordinary ear for music and was genuinely one of the kindest people I’ve worked with.”

At the time of writing, Boodarian had not yet been assigned a public defender and could not be reached for comment.

The Los Angeles Police Department has urged anyone with additional information about the incident to contact the West Valley Division Homicide Unit.
