President Donald Trump will be in Pittsburgh today to attend a major energy and artificial intelligence (AI) summit at Carnegie Mellon University. The event, which aims to fuel job creation and technological leadership, will unveil tens of billions in new investment across Pennsylvania.

The Inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit is being led by Republican U.S. Senator Dave McCormick, who will announce a sweeping $70 billion investment package. The funding includes significant infrastructure projects, such as high-powered data centers that will support the country’s growing demand for AI, which requires massive energy resources.

Pittsburgh is uniquely positioned to lead in this space with its deep energy reserves and strong innovation sector. The summit will spotlight the region’s role in powering the next generation of American technology while tapping into its vast natural gas resources and world-class universities.

Economic Surge

The event also comes shortly after Amazon’s record-setting $20 billion investment in data centers across Pennsylvania, the largest economic development project in the state’s history. That move follows a $14 billion partnership between Nippon Steel and U.S. Steel, designed to boost domestic production and safeguard thousands of American jobs.

President Trump is scheduled to depart Washington, D.C., at 12:30 pm and arrive at the summit by 2:30 pm. Several members of his Cabinet will join him, including Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin, and AI and Crypto Advisor David Sacks.

Governor Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, is also set to appear. He will join a panel discussion on state investments, moderated by Dr. Neeli Bendapudi, President of Pennsylvania State University. While representing opposing parties, both leaders are expected to focus on common goals: economic growth, innovation, and infrastructure expansion.

Industry heavyweights are also making their way to Pittsburgh. Among the confirmed speakers are Alphabet CEO Ruth Porat, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Blackstone CEO Jon Gray, EQT Corporation CEO Toby Rice, Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman, and Gecko Robotics Founder Jake Loosararian. Their panels will explore how private-sector partnerships can advance American energy independence and AI development.

For supporters, the summit represents an opportunity to showcase Pennsylvania as a key player in the future of American energy and technology. With both public and private investments flowing into the state, many see Tuesday’s gathering as a sign that the U.S. is ready to lead the world in powering and protecting the future.
