A late-night joyride in a stolen car ended in chaos when three suspects crashed into a beloved Vicksburg dry cleaners, leaving a trail of damage and a community demanding answers.

Police in Vicksburg, Mississippi, are actively searching for three individuals who fled on foot after crashing a stolen vehicle into United Cleaners on Wednesday night. The incident, which happened around 11 p.m., was caught on the business’ surveillance cameras and has sparked frustration among both business owners and residents.

The vehicle, reported stolen earlier that day from the 400 block of Lake Hill Drive, was seen speeding through the area before the driver lost control and veered into the dry cleaner’s parking lot. The car slammed into the building’s front wall and then collided with the signage, completely destroying it. The suspects, believed to be two males and possibly one female, quickly abandoned the vehicle and ran across a nearby bridge before police could arrive.

Andrew Amborn Jr., secretary of United Cleaners, spoke with local media outlet WLBT about the aftermath. “To see something like this happen is almost kind of like a slap in the face,” Amborn said. “It’s shocking and it’s disappointing too because we work really hard here and we like to provide for the community.”

Community Impact

The damage done wasn’t just structural. The crash brought down a sign that had stood proudly for more than 40 years, a symbol of the long-standing presence United Cleaners has had in the community. “We had to move the sign, unfortunately,” Amborn explained. “It’s been up for over forty years. We had to take it down.”

Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) Captain Kurtis Judge confirmed the timeline of the event and said investigators are working to identify those responsible. “It’s just one of those things. We are going to work on it, and look into it, and see what we can find,” Judge said. “We need some help trying to identify who these guys and possibly a girl are.”

No injuries were reported in the incident, but the damage to the building and the emotional impact on those involved are significant. Amborn emphasized how such reckless behavior puts more than just property at risk. “I just want the parents to get control of their children,” he said. “This type of stuff happening at 11:30 at night with teenagers is dangerous for everybody.”

The VPD is urging the public to come forward with any information that may help identify the suspects. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residents could be crucial in helping authorities track down those involved.
