Suspect on the Run After Pushing a Man Onto Tracks at Midtown Station

A 44-year-old man was injured Saturday evening after being pushed onto the train tracks at a Midtown Manhattan subway station, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD). The victim avoided being struck by a train and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The incident occurred just before 7:50 pm at the 50th Street and 7th Avenue station while the man was waiting for the train. Police said an unknown suspect came from behind and shoved him onto the tracks. The man managed to climb back onto the platform before any trains arrived.

Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a nearby hospital with injuries to his face and legs. Authorities confirmed he is expected to recover.

After pushing the victim, the suspect fled the scene. No arrests have been made, and the police continue searching for the responsible person. The investigation is ongoing.

This attack happened just hours after a separate violent incident in the same area. Around 1:20 am. Saturday, three people were shot near 44th Street and 7th Avenue in Times Square. Police detained a 17-year-old suspect following that shooting.

While the two events are not connected, the timing and location of these incidents raise concerns about safety in one of New York City’s busiest areas.

The investigation into the subway assault remains active as authorities work to identify and apprehend the suspect. They are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses as part of their effort to find the suspect.

Police are urging anyone with information about the subway attack to come forward.
