Las Vegas Tech CEO Targeted With Threats

Las Vegas, Nevada, A technology entrepreneur in Las Vegas has become the target of a disturbing threat after receiving a package containing a severed pig’s head and a handwritten letter. The recipient, Blake Owens, is the founder and CEO of Agrippa, a real estate technology firm that has recently gained attention for its use of artificial intelligence in property transactions.

The incident occurred shortly after Owens and his company were featured in a television news segment that aired locally, highlighting their use of AI to streamline real estate deals. Within hours, a package was delivered to Owens’ family home. According to reports, the package contained a blood-covered pig’s head along with a letter that appeared to mock his appearance and challenge his company’s technological approach.

The handwritten note, addressed to Owens as “Clark Kent knockoff,” referenced the recent news coverage and criticised his vision for using AI in real estate. “A simple Google search goes a long way these days, especially in Vegas,” the letter read. “Saw your Marcus video, what a joke. ‘AI’ is not going to replace brokers.”

The author of the letter went on to argue that real estate had been built by brokers, not developers or tech entrepreneurs. The message concluded with the phrase, “Don’t get greedy because pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered.”

In a public statement, Owens downplayed the physical threat but acknowledged the seriousness of the situation. “Perhaps this person watched too much of The Godfather,” he said, referring to the famous film scene involving a severed horse’s head. “Needless to say, I still take it very seriously, but I don’t feel like I’m being truly threatened. It was a message.”

Despite the threatening tone of the delivery, Owens expressed a desire not to retaliate or escalate the situation. “I don’t want to punch down on this person; they may be in a tough spot in life,” he said. “I see this as an opportunity to show people that you don’t become a better person by trying to make someone else smaller.”

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed that an investigation is underway. Officers are reviewing surveillance footage from the area, interviewing potential witnesses, and examining the package for fingerprints or other forensic evidence.

Police have not released further details about possible suspects, and no arrests have been made. A spokesperson for the department confirmed the case is being treated as a possible criminal threat or intimidation, depending on the outcome of the investigation.

Agrippa, the company founded by Owens, has been positioned as a disruptor in the real estate industry, leveraging artificial intelligence to automate property analysis, valuation, and transaction workflows. While the firm has attracted attention and investment, it has also drawn criticism from traditional real estate professionals who view the growing use of AI as a threat to their livelihoods.

Industry experts have noted that while AI can improve efficiency in property deals, it cannot fully replace the role of human agents who provide local knowledge and customer relationships. The tension between traditional practices and technological innovation continues to be a flashpoint in industries such as real estate, finance, and law.

Owens has indicated that he will not be deterred by the incident and that Agrippa will continue to expand its offerings. “Innovation always meets resistance,” he said. “But we’re here to improve how people engage with real estate, not to tear anything down.”

The company has since increased security measures at its offices and Owens’ residence. Law enforcement officials have advised others in high-profile positions, especially those operating in public-facing tech roles, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

As of this report, the sender of the package remains unidentified. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.

The case has sparked broader discussions online about the risks entrepreneurs face when pushing for innovation, and the lines between criticism, resistance, and criminal threats.
