Exeter Hospital has been named one of the nation’s top-performing healthcare institutions in the 2025–2026 Best Hospitals report published by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital received a High Performing rating in the treatment of pneumonia, placing it among the top-performing facilities in that specific category.

More than 4,400 hospitals across the United States were evaluated in the annual assessment, which analyzes care across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions. Only 13 percent of the evaluated hospitals received a Best Hospitals designation, underscoring the competitiveness and rigor of the ranking criteria.

Debra Cresta, President of Exeter Hospital, credited the recognition to the facility’s dedicated staff and their commitment to safety and excellence. “This recognition is the result of countless hours of teamwork, innovation, and an unwavering focus on patient safety,” Cresta stated in a hospital press release.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on a range of objective quality indicators, including risk-adjusted mortality rates, rates of preventable complications, and levels of nursing care. The methodology draws on data from over 800 million patient records, reflecting a comprehensive picture of hospital performance nationwide.

The High Performing rating in pneumonia care indicates that Exeter Hospital delivers outcomes significantly better than the national average in this area. Such recognition highlights the facility’s ability to provide consistent and effective care in treating a condition that particularly affects older adults and individuals with underlying health issues.

Exeter Hospital, located in New Hampshire, is a part of Core Physicians and Rockingham Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice, which together form a health system that emphasizes community-based care. The hospital has long been recognized regionally for its patient-centered services and investment in medical innovation.

While the rankings serve as a useful guide for patients and families making decisions about their care, they also reflect broader efforts by healthcare institutions to meet rising standards of accountability and transparency. For institutions like Exeter Hospital, earning national recognition strengthens public trust and reinforces their standing in a competitive healthcare environment.

The U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list remains one of the most cited benchmarks in American healthcare, signaling high-quality care and institutional excellence for the millions who consult it each year.
