A 20-year-old Minnesota man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder following a violent, unprovoked stabbing of a homeless woman at Willow Lane Park in Hennepin County. According to police and a criminal complaint obtained by CBS News, the suspect, Logan Anthony Seitz, admitted to attacking the woman with a knife, stating he had long harbored the desire to kill someone at random.

Seitz, who was arrested at his home shortly after the incident, allegedly laughed during his police interview and expressed disappointment upon learning that the victim had survived. Law enforcement discovered the woman with multiple stab wounds across her body, including injuries to her chest, stomach, arms, shoulders, and hands. She remains hospitalized in critical condition but is expected to survive.

The complaint states that Seitz told officers he had snuck out of his house on Sunday morning carrying a knife with the clear intention of killing a stranger. Upon encountering the woman in the park, he reportedly initiated a casual conversation before revealing his violent intentions and launching the attack. Seitz later said he stopped stabbing the woman only because he grew physically tired.

After the assault, Seitz returned to his residence, where he allegedly changed clothes and cleaned up, telling police he did so because “her blood smelled.” Officers found him covered in blood, which he admitted belonged to the victim. He also disclosed that he disposed of the weapon to avoid being shot by police if seen carrying it.

The suspect has a documented history of mental health concerns and prior criminal charges. In January, FergusNow reported that Seitz had been previously charged with making threats of violence, property damage, and disorderly conduct while being treated as a psychiatric patient in an emergency room. During that incident, he reportedly discussed committing a mass murder and expressed a desire to “go out in a blaze of glory” on his birthday.

At the time, Seitz had been checked into a behavioral health clinic for ongoing “homicidal ideation,” according to officials. A case manager told investigators that he had been vocal about becoming a mass murderer and willing to kill anyone who stood in his way.

It is unclear whether Seitz’s earlier charges led to further legal action or mental health intervention. He is now being held on $2 million bail and faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole if convicted.
