Seven men are facing charges after a prostitution sting carried out by local police at a Bryan hotel last Friday. Authorities say the operation, which involved undercover officers, was part of ongoing efforts to target crimes linked to sex trafficking.

According to arrest records reviewed by KBTX, officers with the Bryan Police Department set up online ads offering commercial sex. The suspects reportedly contacted those ads, arranged meetings, and offered between $100 and $150 in exchange for sex acts. They were arrested shortly after arriving at the location where they believed they would meet a sex worker.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Arthur Maldonado, 56; Javier Delgado-Rodriguez, 40; Edwin Garcia, 17; Ivan Bryan Trejos, 24; Jakob Kirby, 26; Jeremias Domingo Tumax-Aguilar, 36; and Tomas Rodriguez-Palafok. According to online jail logs, at least two of the suspects are believed to be in the United States without legal immigration status and are currently held under an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer.

Targeting Trafficking

Sergeant Broderick Bailey with the Bryan Police Department explained the intention behind conducting such vice operations, emphasizing their role in fighting human trafficking.

“Our goal is to prevent sex trafficking by eliminating the environment and also providing a haven for victims of sex trafficking,” Bailey stated. “Imagine an individual who has a drug-induced illness. This individual can be left vulnerable to being taken advantage of in this type of environment.”

The operation was part of a wider initiative by local law enforcement aimed at dismantling networks of illegal activity that often overlap with prostitution. Police say these efforts are about charging individuals for solicitation and disrupting broader criminal behavior tied to these environments.

Bailey pointed out that these cases frequently lead investigators to uncover other offenses. “There are sometimes drug crimes. There are other types of crimes as well,” he said. “Every now and then, we might recover stolen property, maybe even guns. A lot of these crimes tie together.”

Police are also stressing the importance of public involvement. Bailey encouraged residents to report suspicious behavior, stating that many of these investigations are guided by community tips.

“Our success depends on information that we may receive from the public,” he noted. “If you see a crime or you think that a crime might be occurring, please feel free to reach out to us and let us know.”

Each of the seven suspects has been charged with solicitation of prostitution, which is classified as a state jail felony under Texas law. They were booked into the Brazos County Detention Center following their arrest. The investigation is still ongoing.

Law enforcement officials say they will continue to carry out similar undercover operations across the area to deter criminal activity tied to prostitution and human trafficking.
