EasyJet Flight Diverted After Passenger Shouts Bomb Threats and Political Rants

A 41-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, July 27, after causing a mid-air disturbance on an EasyJet flight from London Luton to Glasgow, forcing an emergency diversion.

The man reportedly shouted bomb threats and political slogans, prompting quick action from passengers and crew.

The flight, en route to Scotland, took a chaotic turn when the passenger emerged from the lavatory yelling, “Stop the plane,” followed by, “Find the bomb on the plane.”

Witnesses say he then began shouting inflammatory statements, including “Death to America” and “Death to Trump,” before repeatedly yelling “Allahu Akbar” — Arabic for “God is great.”

Fellow passengers quickly restrained the man, tackling him to the floor and holding him until the plane landed.

One passenger can be heard telling the suspect, “Sit down. Don’t move,” as the flight crew prepared for an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport. Despite the threats, no explosives were found onboard.

Police Scotland confirmed that the man was taken into custody upon arrival and remains detained as investigations continue.

Authorities have not released the suspect’s name but stated that he is being questioned in connection with the incident.

EasyJet, the British low-cost airline, responded promptly. In a statement, a spokesperson said, “The passenger was removed from the aircraft due to their behavior onboard. Our crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure the safety of the flight is never compromised.”

The airline emphasized that the “safety and well-being of our customers and crew is always our highest priority.” EasyJet praised the cabin crew’s composure and professionalism, as well as the decisive action of passengers who stepped in.

This event occurred during former U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to Turnberry Golf Resort in South Ayrshire, though authorities have not confirmed any direct link between the suspect’s remarks and the timing of the trip.

While police believe the incident was isolated and not linked to broader threats, the case has raised serious concerns about passenger screening and onboard security. Investigators are reviewing footage and assessing whether the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The aircraft resumed operations after a safety check. No passengers or crew were physically harmed.
