Bybit and Cactus Custody have announced a strategic partnership to launch Cactus Oasis, an off-exchange settlement platform designed to improve asset security and operational efficiency for institutional traders. The move, set to go live on July 28, 2025, marks a significant step in enhancing risk management and liquidity flexibility in the digital asset space.

Bybit, currently ranked as the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has joined forces with Cactus Custody, a Hong Kong-licensed digital asset custodian under the Matrixport Group. Their collaboration offers institutional clients the ability to trade on Bybit without pre-funding exchange accounts. Instead, assets are held in fully segregated, regulated custody through Cactus Custody and transferred only at the point of settlement. This structure is aimed at reducing counterparty risk while maintaining uninterrupted access to market liquidity.

According to Shunyet Jan, Head of Institutional and Derivatives at Bybit, the integration empowers institutions with greater control over their capital. “The integration of Cactus Oasis gives our clients more flexibility in managing liquidity without compromising asset protection,” Jan stated. This partnership underscores a broader market trend where institutions demand increased transparency, compliance, and security in their digital asset transactions.

The Cactus Oasis platform leverages advanced features like Buffer accounts, which streamline asset management across multiple trading venues and support tailored risk controls, including dual-authorisation and custom approval workflows. It meets comprehensive regulatory standards through Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), and Know Your Transaction (KYT) protocols.

Cactus Custody brings institutional-grade protections, including a tiered wallet infrastructure supported by Hardware Security Module (HSM) encryption. The custodian has achieved both System and Organization Controls (SOC) 1 Type 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications through Deloitte, ensuring that its operations meet globally recognised benchmarks. It also holds official licenses as a Trust or Company Service Provider (TCSP) under the regulatory oversight of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

Wendy Jiang, General Manager of Cactus Custody, commented, “This integration with Bybit addresses institutional demands for secure custody, risk reduction, and efficient post-trade settlement. It represents a meaningful step in advancing digital asset trading infrastructure and driving institutional adoption.”

Bybit, founded in 2018, serves over 70 million users globally and has positioned itself at the forefront of the transition between traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralised finance (DeFi). The firm’s focus on Web3 innovation and partnership with key blockchain protocols signals a continued investment in building resilient, scalable infrastructure for institutional clients worldwide.

In an era where trust, security, and efficiency are paramount, the Cactus Oasis integration offers a forward-looking solution for institutional investors navigating the complexities of digital asset markets.
